Selling your aircraft to a fellow Canadian citizen or resident is fairly easy and will mostly just involve transferring your registration to them. Exporting the aircraft, on the other hand, will call for an airplane airworthiness certificate, as well as its own process altogether.
Export Airplane Airworthiness Certificate

- Remove the aircraft Mode S Transponder address code and, if necessary, apply for an export airplane airworthiness certificate when required.
- Be sure to provide the aircraft’s specific documentation along with the request.
Moving Your Aircraft to Canada
The export airplane airworthiness certificate will be very important if you’re looking to move the aircraft out of Canada. In order to receive it, you will have to fill out a form, which will call for your contact information, the name and address of the exporter, as well as that of the buyer, and the aircraft information. This will include data about the engines, propellers, and manufacturer. Once you have the export airworthiness certificate, you will be able to carry on with the export process, but it’s not exactly done for, as the prior requirement list might indicate. This certificate will only deem your aircraft suitable for export and it won’t cover the rest of the documentation necessary to take the plane’s registration off the Canadian aircraft registry.
