There are different ways of registering your aircraft, and each will depend on a lot of different factors. Is your aircraft ultralight or not? If so, is it basic or advanced? Are you registering it alone or are you co-registering an aircraft? Has the aircraft been registered before? You will need to consider lots of different things, but today we are focusing on the particulars of shared ownership, so let’s talk about how that process would work.

Basics of Registration

There’s no need for aircraft registration to be difficult to deal with. Sure, dealing with Transport Canada might be complicated, just like taking care of any government process, but it doesn’t have to be when you have a team of experts guiding you through the whole ordeal. After all, it’s only complicated if you don’t have the right help. If you have questions about registering or co-registering aircraft, we are always here to answer them promptly. However, in the meantime, here are a few indications on what you can do to navigate either registration process.

Registering Your Aircraft

So, how does registration work? Getting your initial registration is a fairly simple process, akin to merely filling out a form and submitting it to Transport Canada, the agency in charge of regulating aircraft registration. What information do you have to provide? Wel, not a lot. You simply need to fill out your contact information, manufacturer specs about the aircraft, and similar data that will pertain to the type of registration you will need. Be sure to distinguish whether or not your aircraft is considered ultralight under the Transport Canada guidelines. This will determine the kind of registration you need to get and the permissions that the aircraft will be entitled to under it.

Co-Registering an Aircraft

The process is only slightly different when it comes to co-registering an aircraft with another owner. You will still have to submit an initial registration form, but this time you will also have to provide information about both owners, establishing co-ownership over the aircraft. Please note that if you are to later remove an owner from the registration, you won’t have to start the registration process all over again. You have to instead apply for a change of ownership and specify which owner is being removed from the registry and which one is keeping it. This will all be part of establishing and maintaining a mutual ownership over an aircraft.

A Place for All your Aircraft Registration Needs

If you’re finding yourself having trouble with your applications, be those to register or co-register an aircraft, don’t panic. After all, all you need to do is trust our team here at the National Aviation Registration to help you throughout the whole process so that you don’t have to worry too much about the whole thing. Here you will find all the forms you might need for your aviation papers, including those to co-register your aircraft. Should you need some additional help with any of it, give us a call at 1-800-998-3527 and we’ll answer your questions in no time.

You are well-aware of how important it is to maintain your aircraft registration in order to legally make use of your airplane. However, it can be just as important to delete it in certain situations, which some aircraft owners are not always privy to. Let’s talk about when and why it is necessary to de-register aircraft in Canada.

When to De-Register Aircraft in Canada

The process of de-registration is essentially a way to eliminate the registration in its current form from the Canadian registry of aircraft. This is commonly done when there is no longer a need for the aircraft to be registered with the Canadian government agencies. If you are unsure about whether or not you should go through with a de-registration process in your situation or would like to learn more about the process, we can go through two of the most common cases in which you might need to de-register aircraft in Canada.

The Aircraft is Going to be Out of Commission

Aircraft, like any other sort of vehicle, will only have a determinate lifespan. After a certain point, the aircraft may no longer be safe to use, fly, or operate. In some extreme cases, this might happen following an accident that significantly incapacitates the aircraft to the point that it can no longer be used either. Regardless of the circumstances under which the aircraft can no longer be used, you should de-register it from the Transport Canada database. After all, there is not point in maintaining the registration if the aircraft is out of commission, and it’s always good to have legal proof that you are no longer associated with the defunct aircraft, especially because that makes the registration vulnerable to being hijacked. In cases like these, there’s no situation in which de-registering the aircraft is a bad idea.

The Aircraft is Going to be Registered Elsewhere

A less dramatic instance in which you might end up having to de-register aircraft in Canada will be when you are transferring, selling, or moving the aircraft to a foreign country. An aircraft can only be registered in one country, which is why in case that you are moving the airplane abroad indefinitely, you will need to de-register it from the Transport Canada registry. This will be evident when selling it or exporting it, but a lot of people don’t consider that they also need to do so when they are retaining ownership of the plane but moving it with them to a different country. If you are, say, moving to the United States, along with your aircraft, you will need to de-register it here in Canada and re-register it with the Federal Aviation Administration once you’re there.

Aviation Documentation Needs

Whether you are deleting the registration because you are retiring the aircraft or moving it to a different country, we at the National Aviation Registration can guide you through the process and provide you with all the necessary forms to do so. Just know that if at any point you need help with your applications, you can call us at (800) 998-3527 or email us at info@canadianaircraftregistry.ca

When importing aircraft from the USA to Canada, you need to keep in mind that certain aspects of the process are going to be very delicate. If you want to make sure that the overall cooperation goes smoothly, we have a good breakdown of what you should keep in mind. This is, after all, an international operation to move very expensive property from a country to another. To properly carry out this process, you will need to understand Transport Canada’s guidelines for such an import. If the process seems intimidating, don’t worry. We can make sure that you always know what to do in terms of permits, documentation, and registration.

Importing Aircraft From the USA to Canada

The process to import any sort of aircraft into Canada is not as complicated as it might seem but, like with anything, it will require some paperwork. In fact, the whole thing might get confusing if you don’t have the right guide throughout it. This is why we can provide you with a guide outlining everything you need to do.

To Do Before Registering an Imported Aircraft

Importing aircraft from the USA to Canada, like importing pretty much anything, will require a significant amount of paperwork and preparation. In fact, there is a specific process to follow that will call for you to contact different government agencies. This is a brief overview of what a process like this looks like:

  • The first thing you will want to do is contact the Civil Aviation agency to make sure that your aircraft is eligible to be imported into Canada in the first place.
  • Request proof from the last country in which the aircraft was registered in, officially known as the last state of registry, that it is no longer officially registered there.
  • Make sure that the aircraft meets all the airworthiness requirements necessary for its importation into Canada.
  • Apply for registration marks for the aircraft with Civil Aviation.

Apply for Registration

Now that you know that you can go forward importing aircraft from the USA to Canada, it will be time to register the aircraft with Transport Canada. This process is not difficult, but it will require that you provide a few documents and fill out a form. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Fill out the application for registration of the aircraft, which is readily available on our sidebar menu for you to submit through our platform.
  • Include a proof of ownership, such as a bill of sale, along with the application.
  • Attach a picture of the aircraft’s ID plate that includes the name of the manufacturer, the model, the serial number, and type certificate number if applicable.
  • Pay for the registration fee, which you can also do when applying through our platform.

National Aviation Registration

Whether you are importing aircraft from the USA to Canada or registering a Canadian aircraft, we at the National Aviation Registration can guide you through the process and provide you with all the necessary forms. Just know that if at any point you need help with your applications, you can call us at (800) 998-3527 or email us at info@canadianaircraftregistry.ca

It’s very important for aircraft owners in Canada to register their airplane with the Civil Aviation agency of Transport Canada. In order for someone to be eligible to register an aircraft in the Canadian Aviation Registry, even if it is shared, they have to be a Canadian citizen, a Canadian resident, or a corporation incorporated under the laws of Canada. Let’s take a look at how to join the registry and how to interact with it.

Canadian Aviation Registry Forms

Any aircraft owner will tell you just how important it is to get your registration in place before flying. It’s vital, after all, to make sure your aircraft is properly registered with the national aviation authorities so that it’s operating in rule and in accordance with the relevant regulations. The process to register your aircraft is not difficult, but it does require a fair attention to detail. The bulk of the process will involve submitting the corresponding forms to Transport Canada, which you will find readily available here on our platform. Joining the Canadian Aviation Registry is fairly simple once you have the required documents on you. We make submitting the forms to Transport Canada as easy as possible.

Updating Your Registration

There are many reasons for which you might end up having to update your aircraft registration. You might need to make sure your address is up to date, for example, or you might need to add an owner to the official registry. If you are adding an owner to the aircraft in question, you will need to use the form for a change of ownership, even if you aren’t fully transferring the aircraft to someone else. Similarly to how your car is registered to your home address, your aircraft will also need to have a registered address attached to it.  The necessary forms for both of these processes can be found here on our menu. Updating your entry in the Canadian Aviation Registry has never been easier.

Consulting the Registry

Now, the whole point of the registry is that it holds information, right? This one in particular is not just for official purposes, but it will also have readily available information for users to consult. If you are looking for some quick current information about a specific aircraft, then you will want to go to the aircraft registration query system that is available on the Transport Canada website. This will be a pretty straightforward process and will give you the information you need.

National Aviation Registration

Now, we all know that filing for any sort of bureaucratic application can quickly become quite a nightmare if you’re dealing with uncooperative government agencies. That is why we at the National Aviation Registration are here to give you a hand. Our platform has every form relevant to the aircraft documentation processes, making it easy for you to not just find all the Canadian Aviation Registry forms, but also to fill them out and submit them to Transport Canada. If you need help at any step in the process, all you have to do is give us a call at 1-800-998-3527 or email us at info@canadianaircraftregistry.ca. We’ll make sure you get the assistance you need.

Are you looking to get your Canadian aircraft registration done so that you don’t have to worry about it anymore? Or, alternatively, have you registered your aircraft and aren’t sure what happens next? Aircraft registration, like aircraft maintenance, is ongoing. It’s not something that you’re ever really “done with,” unless you’re done with flying the airplane itself. Here at our site, we have all of the forms that you might need throughout the life of owning your airplane.

Initial Canadian Aircraft Registration

If you’re going to fly an aircraft in Canada, you need this registration. Full stop. There’s no way around it, particularly not if you’re going to be in Canada for some time. Don’t let that language scare you off, however: it’s easier than it might seem. If you go to our homepage, you don’t have to look for the initial registration form: it’s right there in the middle of our site. Just fill that out and send it in, we’ll make sure it gets to where it needs to go fast. In fact, if you want to expedite the process even further, you can choose “rush processing.” We know that some of our customers need to be at the top of the queue, and we can make that happen for you.

Registration As Times Change

Have you bought an aircraft from someone else and need to get it registered in your name? Then, the right thing to do is to go to our “Change of Ownership – Aircraft” form. Did you move from the home you lived in when you initially registered your aircraft? If that’s the case, then our “Change of Address” form can help you to stay in compliance with the authorities. Alternatively, perhaps you’ve gotten to the point where it’s time to move on from your aircraft. Should that be the case, we can help in many ways, such as making it easier to de-register your aircraft.

A New Form

In our modern, digital age, you can fill out the form for a Certificate of Registration online quickly and easily. However, what you can’t do is just get by with having a digital copy of that form. You need to have an actual, physical copy of this form on your aircraft. Just having a picture on your phone, or saved in the cloud, isn’t enough in and of itself. To keep you in compliance, you can buy a replacement through our site.

Assistance with Forms

When you fill out these forms, it’s natural to feel like you’re on your own, that there’s no one to help you. However, that’s not the case. If you have any questions about any aspect of these forms, (such as which ones to fill out, which are the best fit for your aircraft, and so forth) we can help. In fact, if you want someone to walk you through the process, a member of our trained staff would be happy to help there, too. For more, visit our site or call (800) 998-3527.

As an aircraft owner, you are probably well aware of what the Canadian parameters for registration are, but you might be stumped when it comes to arranging for the plane to be registered abroad. Exporting Canadian aircraft will require a lot of corresponding paperwork, so it’s always good to have a detailed guide for what you will need and how to submit it.

Exporting Canadian Aircraft

When it comes to exporting Canadian aircraft, there are certain steps you will need to take before moving the plane out of the country. Don’t worry, they’re all very specific and easy to carry out, although they will require that you fill out a few forms. The necessary steps are:

  • You will need to remove the Canadian nationality and registration marks from the aircraft.
  • If applicable, you have to remove the aircraft mark plate.
  • Request in writing that Transport Canada, Civil Aviation deletes the registration of your aircraft (by way of the de-registration form on our website).
  • Remove the aircraft Mode S Transponder address code and, if necessary, apply for an export airworthiness certificate when required.
  • Be sure to provide the aircraft’s specific documentation with the request.

Export Airworthiness Certificate

Getting an export airworthiness certificate will be very important when exporting Canadia aircraft. This is the document that, after all, designates the aircraft as one that is suitable for export. By definition, the export process in and of itself can’t start until you’ve obtained this certificate, so be sure to get it promptly while taking care of the sale. In order to receive it, you will need to provide your contact information, the name and address of the exporter, as well as that of the buyer, and the aircraft information, including data about the engines, propellers, and manufacturer. Remember that the certificate is, however, one component of the overall process, so be sure to continue the process beyond this.

Deregister the Aircraft from the Canadian Registry

Since the plane is being exported, it will no longer be necessary to maintain its registration with Transport Canada, which is why you will need to delete the registration as part of the process of exporting Canadian aircraft. All you need to do is submit the form to deregister aircraft from the Canadian registry, which will only require you to provide some specific information about the aircraft, the standing of your ownership, and the reasons behind the deletion. Once you’ve provided the necessary information, all you need to do is pay the $125 processing fee and your deletion will have been submitted. Once Transport Canada has processed the deregistration, you will receive official confirmation.

National Aviation Registration

When it comes to maintaining, modifying, or deleting your aircraft registration, you might think will always have to deal, in some way or another, with Transport Canada, which can quickly become frustrating and stressful. The good news is you don’t have to! If you are exporting Canadian aircraft and need proper guidance, quick processing, and easy access to all relevant forms, you can count on us here at the National Aviation Registration. Should you need some help with any of it, don’t hesitate to use our website chat, fill out our contact form, or give us a call at 800-998-3527 and we’ll answer your questions in no time.

Have you been looking for a way to register your ultra-light aircraft with the Canadian government? Alternatively, have you been on the fence as to whether or not your aircraft would qualify as “ultra-light?” These are important questions that have to be dealt with quickly, before you take your aircraft up in the air. Here at the Canadian Aircraft Registry, we’ve been helping aircraft owners like you for a long time. Whether your aircraft is ultra-light or not, we can provide you with the ultra-light aircraft registration that can make it legal for you to get up in the air and stay there.

Ultra-Light Aircraft Registration

The authorities are quite clear on what constitutes an ultra-light aircraft. First off, it can’t have more than two seats. So, if you have an aircraft that makes you say something like: “well, see, this third thing isn’t necessarily a seat, exactly,” then just think of it as “not an ultra-light.” As ever, there are exceptions, and we’ll be glad to answer any questions that you might have. Beyond that, an ultra-light aircraft has to have a maximum take-off weight that’s no more than 544 kg (or 1,199 pounds if you aren’t on the metric system). Additionally, the stall speed in the landing configuration can’t be more than 45 miles an hour (or 39 knots). If your aircraft hits all of that, then it’s an ultra-light.

Advanced Ultra Light

If you look on our form, there’s a simple “yes” or “no” answer to the question: “advanced ultra-light?” While the answers are monosyllabic, the questions might not be. There are many, many different kinds of aircraft that qualify as “advanced ultra-light.” The actual list the government maintains is lengthy at best. If you believe that your ultra-light aircraft might be advanced, or just want to know definitively, our staff is more than happy to help.

Registration Made Easy

An ultra-light aircraft is, in so many ways, ultra-fun. Taking this aircraft up in the sky is a real rush, as it’s so, so different from piloting another kind of aircraft. With that in mind, we know that you want to spend more time up in the air and far, far less on the ground. That’s why we’ve made it easy to fill out these forms from just about anywhere. Instead of having to spend hours in front of your computer, you can fill these out on your phone – from just about anywhere you can get connected to the internet.

All Forms of Canadian Aircraft Registration

You might have read to this part of the blog and thought: “hey, that’s all great, but I don’t have an ultra-light aircraft.” In that case, we have all of the forms that you’ll need to register other forms of aircraft in Canada, too. You can get the initial registration, register your aircraft once you purchase it from someone else, even get a replacement for your certificate, should it become lost or mutilated. For more help with this or anything else, call us at (800) 998-3527 or send us an email.

One of the key aspects of maintaining your aircraft registration in order is to always keep an official physical copy of it on the aircraft in question. After all, this is going to serve as proof of the validity of the registration and, by that regard, the aircraft’s permission to fly in Canadian airspace. This is why, should something happen to your certificate, you will need to go through the process of getting an aircraft certificate replacement to maintain your registration in good official standing.

Getting an Aircraft Certificate Replacement

The process to get an aircraft certificate replacement is actually fairly easy. Remember when you first applied for aircraft registration and you have to submit a form with your contact information and all the manufacturer stats of the aircraft? Well, that registration is still existent, so it’s not like you have to apply all over again. However, since you always need a physical copy for it to be valid, you need to request a physical replacement. To receive this, all you need to do is submit the corresponding form with some basic information about the registration, meaning the file number, and the contact information of the owner. In no time you will be receiving the certificate replacement so that you can freely make use of your aircraft.

When to Get a Replacement?

Now you know how to get an aircraft certificate replacement, but let’s make sure that you know when it is that you need to get one. It’s important that you remember that this process is only for those whose registration is still valid and need a new physical copy of it. This might happen in cases of loss, damage, or mutilation of the original document. This is not the kind of document that you can keep as a virtual copy of in your phone and show that instead. No, you will always need an official physical copy aboard the aeroplane, so if something happens to your copy be sure to go through this process to replace it.

Registering Aircraft After Deletion

There is a common misconception that assumes that this process can reinstate registration that was deleted. Say, for example, that you left the country for a few years and had to delete your Canadian aircraft registration in order to register it abroad and now you’re back. The aircraft certificate replacement process is not for such cases in which you may need to get your registration back up here in Canada. In order to do that, you will once again have to register your aircraft. The replacement process is only for when the Transport Canada registration is still valid and you simply need a new physical copy.

All Your Aircraft Documentation Needs

Are you looking to replace your damaged or lost aircraft certificate? Well, we at the National Aviation Registration can guide you through this process and provide you with all the necessary forms to do so. And remember that, if at any point you need help with your applications, you can call us at (800) 998-3527 or email us at info@canadianaircraftregistry.ca

Do you want to register an aircraft but don’t want to spend a lot of time doing so? Does it feel like every time you sit down to register your plane, you find yourself procrastinating so that you don’t have to do it? These are perfectly understandable feelings. After all, you didn’t buy your aircraft so that you could spend all of your time filling out forms. You want to go up in the air. That’s why we made our Canadian Aircraft Registry site: so that you could spend less time filling out forms and more time in the air. We’ve made it easier to do just that in multiple ways.

Register an Aircraft In Three (or Actually Two) Steps

Aircraft registration is one of the most popular uses of our site. So, to make things even easier on our customers, we’ve made it so that our homepage is literally the Initial Aircraft Registration form. All you have to do is to go to our homesite and start filling it out. To expedite things further, you’ll note that certain blanks have an asterisk next to them. Those are the ones that absolutely have to be filled out. The others, you can leave. So long as you have all of the pertinent information in front of you, you can fill this form out in just a few minutes.

Registering Different Kinds of Aircraft

If you look closely at the top of the page, you’ll see that you can register an aircraft as well as an amateur-built one. On top of that, you can also register so-called “Ultra-Light” aircraft as well. If there’s a kind of aircraft that can be registered in Canada, we can help you to acquire and maintain that registration.

Registering a Plane from Anywhere

We know that for many aircraft owners, what keeps them from filling out their registration is that they simply don’t want to take the time out of their day to do it. That’s understandable. It’s also why we made sure that our forms are mobile-optimized. That means that you can fill these forms out from just about anywhere, so long as you have an internet connection. So, if you’re out and about, on a walk, at the airport, or even on your plane, if you’re connected to the internet (and have a few minutes) you can fill out these forms.

Help When You Need It

Odds are you didn’t get into flying for the right to fill out more paperwork. We know that many of these terms are esoteric and a bit dense at best. If you’re at all confused or unsure about which forms are right for you, our staff is always glad to help. You can email us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively, if you want someone to walk you through these forms, question by question, our trained Canadian Aircraft Registry staff can help with that, too. Just give us an email or call at (800) 998-3527 .
